Summer BBQ 2006

Summer BBQ held on Saturday 1st July 2006 met with overwhelming approval from all the guests who attended the event. It was a truly international event with guest attendance from Inverness-Scotland, Lahore-Pakistan and most parts of Britain . It was attended by 190 guests and, like last time, we apologise to those families whom we could not accommodate.

It was a nice warm sunny day and the warmth of the day only matched by the warmth of the guests. Everyone arrived on time not sure of what to expect but everyone quickly found old acquaintances or met new friends, split into informal groups, found a shaded area and chatted away.

The poor professional caterer with his extensive range of succulent and delicious BBQ ended up being the side event. Even the free-flowing ice cold drinks, mountains of chips and ice-cream were no match for the main event.

The main event being the shrieks of joy from the children at the miniature train, piñata(s), handout of toys and the freedom to run riot in acres of open space. In fact it had been over heard ‘misbehave and we will not bring you to the next BBQ’, not sure who made the comment; the parent or the children?

The tinker-man setting up his stall and giving away free Royal Doulton porcelain china along with items left over from the BBQ went down a treat with the females.

The committee hope and pray that future events are as successful as the Summer BBQ 2006. Two events organised both a huge success - thank you all!
